Womens Health OSteopathy

Supporting You Through Every Stage of Womanhood

At Full Circle Osteopathy, we understand the unique physical and emotional changes women experience throughout their lives. From pregnancy and postpartum recovery to pelvic health, chronic pain, and breast health—we're here to support you with compassionate, personalised osteopathic care.

Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy is a transformative time, and your body goes through incredible changes. We help manage common pregnancy-related concerns like pelvic girdle pain, rib or hip pain, swelling, and more. Our goal is to keep you comfortable, active, and empowered through hands-on care, targeted exercises, and birth preparation support—including pelvic floor assessment and education.

Postpartum Recovery

The early weeks after birth can be overwhelming—physically, mentally, and emotionally. We’re here to help you recover with treatment plans tailored to your needs. Whether it’s support for abdominal separation (DRAM), pelvic floor rehab, scar care, feeding-related pain, or gentle return-to-exercise plans, we’re with you every step of the way. Sessions typically begin around 6 weeks postpartum but can be adapted based on your unique recovery.

Pelvic Floor Health

Your pelvic floor is essential for continence, support, sexual function, and childbirth. We provide treatment and education for concerns such as bladder or bowel leakage, prolapse, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), vaginismus, and more. Our focus is to empower you with tools, knowledge, and treatment that supports healing and confidence in your body.

Persistent Pelvic Pain

Chronic pelvic pain doesn't have to be your normal. Whether it’s related to menstruation, endometriosis, nerve compression, or post-surgical recovery, we offer a holistic approach that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of pain. You deserve support, understanding, and a path to relief.

Breast Health & Recovery

From mastitis and cording post-surgery, to scarring and musculoskeletal pain related to breast changes, we provide hands-on treatment for a range of breast health concerns. We also work collaboratively with your surgical team when needed and offer advice on support wear and exercise modifications.

what to expect in your consult?

During your consultation, we begin by taking a detailed case history to understand any relevant past medical issues and contributing factors that may influence your treatment. This helps us tailor your care to meet your specific needs and treatment goals. We also perform a comprehensive assessment—both external and internal (with your consent)—to determine the most effective treatment approach.

Once the assessment is complete, your practitioner will discuss their findings with you, including potential contributing factors and how they can help support your recovery. Treatment may involve a range of techniques, such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, , and internal pelvic floor treatment.

In many cases, we also recommend tailored exercise routines and rehabilitation programs to help maintain the benefits of treatment. Since everyone is unique, we personalise both treatment goals and methods to suit you. Our mission is to provide compassionate, customised care that empowers you to achieve better health, well-being, and an improved quality of life.

frequently asked questions

+ How long will my appointment take?

Your Appointment Time Matters - Initial consultations for new patients are up to 60 minutes, giving your practitioner plenty of time to fully understand your concerns and begin a tailored treatment plan. Standard follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. If you need more time—especially for treatment involving multiple areas—extended appointments are available upon request. Feel free to reach out to your practitioner or speak with our reception team to find the appointment length that best suits your needs. We’re here to help.

+ Can I come to a consultation if I have my period?

The choice is completely yours. If you're comfortable, our practitioners are happy to provide treatment during menstruation, including internal techniques when appropriate. Your comfort and consent are always our top priority.

+ Do I need to have internal work in a women’s health consult?

Pelvic health treatments may include both internal and external techniques, tailored to your individual needs and comfort. While certain muscles may respond best to internal treatment, it is never a requirement—your preferences always come first. We understand that your comfort with internal techniques may change from session to session, and we fully respect your choices every time. All treatment options are thoroughly discussed during your appointment, with plenty of time for questions so you feel informed and at ease. Our goal is to create a safe, respectful, and supportive space where you feel empowered to make decisions about your care.

+ Can I have internal treatment done if I haven't had any children?

Yes, internal treatment is not limited to those who have given birth. With your consent, these techniques can be offered to anyone with a vagina, regardless of birth history. While some discomfort may occur, we always take care to proceed gently and with your full comfort in mind. Individuals who have previously experienced internal assessments—such as cervical screening, sexual activity, or past internal treatments—may find the process more familiar, but it's completely normal to have questions or concerns. We’re here to talk through anything you're unsure about during your appointment and will always respect your choices at every step.

+ Is internal pelvic treatment painful?

Just like external treatments for tight muscles, internal pelvic floor therapy may occasionally cause some mild discomfort, but it should never feel painful. Your practitioner will check in with you regularly throughout the session to ensure you're comfortable with the pressure and techniques being used. Treatment is always guided by your feedback, and we adjust our approach based on how your body responds—applying only the amount of pressure that's necessary and appropriate. Consent is ongoing and can be revisited at any point during the session. If you ever feel the need to pause or stop treatment, that's absolutely okay—your comfort and sense of safety come first.

+ Should I do pelvic floor exercises during pregnancy or wait until after the birth?

The answer varies for each individual. Regular, targeted pelvic floor exercises during pregnancy can help prevent incontinence and support postnatal recovery. As with any exercise routine, it’s important to perform them correctly and in line with your body’s needs. Working with a women’s health practitioner can help you create a personalised plan tailored to your unique requirements.

+ Can pelvic floor muscles be too tight?

Some people may experience tight and painful pelvic floor muscles, which can lead to issues such as coccyx pain, pelvic discomfort, hip pain, sexual discomfort, and bladder or bowel problems. This condition is more common in certain groups, including elite athletes, those with hypermobility, individuals with conditions like endometriosis, and those dealing with high levels of stress or anxiety.

+ Is a referral required to see a Women's Health Osteopath?

A referral is not needed to consult with a Women's Health Osteopath. We’re committed to supporting you with a truly collaborative approach, working alongside obstetricians, gynaecologists, GPs, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure your care is seamless, personalised, and centred around your needs.
